Chevron Oronite Expands Jurong Island Plant15 July 2014
On 15th July, American fuel additives maker Chevron Oronite marked the completion of expansion works at its Jurong Island plant. The plant is already Chevron Oronite’s largest additives manufacturing facility in the Asia-Pacific region and the expansion will help meet the expected increase in lubricant demand in growing markets such as China and India.
Chevron Oronite - part of Chevron Corp - said production capacity at the 23 ha plant has now doubled since it was first opened in 1999. The upgrades and additions to the Jurong Island site include increased production and storage capability, more efficient product sampling and delivery. The additives produced by the plant are a key ingredient in lubricants, which are then used in engines of passenger cars, heavy-duty trucks, marine vessels, tractors and other vehicles and equipment.
The guest of honour for the event, Minister for Trade and Industry, Mr Lim Hng Kiang said, “With the energy and chemicals industry in Singapore poised for continued growth, Singaporeans have a wide spectrum of exciting job opportunities on offer, ranging from commercial and research roles, to manufacturing and operations jobs."
