2003 marks the inaugural year of the prestigious Honorary Citizen Award. The Award represents the highest level of recognition by the Singapore government for outstanding contributions by global talent towards the growth and development of Singapore, and may be conferred on those who have made a significant impact in the areas of business, science and technology, information communications, education, health, arts and culture, sports, tourism, community services or security.
