Top Marks for INSEAD in Singapore
Quick to recognise the growing economic potential in Asia Pacific, INSEAD (France) was the first international business school to establish a full Asia campus here in 2000. It is a centre for world-class teaching and research activities, anchored by its renowned MBA programme, its increasingly popular executive courses and its unique Asia-related research.

The pioneer cohort of INSEAD’s full-time MBA programme in Singapore comprised some of the best executives and students from more than 50 countries – with GMAT scores comparable to students in some of the top business schools in USA.

Responding to overwhelming demand, INSEAD had to accelerate its expansion to double its campus capacity in Singapore to 300 MBA students and 3,000 executives in 2005. It has also launched an Executive MBA Programme and set up two research centres in Decision Making & Risk Analysis, and Entrepreneurship. In September 2008, INSEAD’s campus in Singapore admitted its first batch of PhD students, completing the range of programmes offered at the Asia campus.

DigiPen is Game for Educational Success
In the fast-paced world of animation and digital games, one institute has been a forerunner in game development education. That entity is DigiPen Institute of Technology which made its foray into Asia by setting up DigiPen Singapore, its third campus to date and the first outside the US.

As the first leading foreign institution in Singapore offering courses in games and animation, DigiPen Singapore will play an integral role in addressing the digital media industry’s manpower capability needs. Students will undergo rigorous undergraduate programmes either in 3D animation or real time interactive simulation.

DigiPen chose Singapore as its first international campus for several reasons, one of which is the quality of its educational system. "Singapore's strong educational system and the use of English throughout allow us to integrate into the environment very easily," said Jason Chu, Chief Operating Officer, DigiPen Institute of Technology.

Revolutionising with Cutting-Edge Technology

In what was the first German-Asian university partnership, the German Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) was founded in Singapore in 2002, offering joint post-graduate degrees with National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University. GIST is a fully owned subsidiary of Technische Universität München (TUM), one of the most highly-acclaimed universities in Europe specialising in science and technology education and research. In particular, it is a powerhouse in chemistry research with a long tradition of excellence including five Nobel laureates in Chemistry.

The Master of Science programmes that GIST offers range from industrial chemistry, integrated circuit design and microelectronics to more recently, aerospace engineering. With its close links with the German chemicals industry, GIST adopts an academic-to-industry approach which allows students to learn from top global companies such as Bayer, Wacker and Degussa. In line with Singapore's vision to become a leading chemical hub, GIST’s programmes will develop graduates who are equipped with specialised skills to meet the needs and demands of the fast growing chemical industry.
