Unilever strengthens its Asian presence

Unilever's new CEO Paul Polman, visited the Company's growing business hub of its Asia, Africa, Central and Eastern European region which generates one-third of Unilever's revenues and is based in Singapore.

The results of this growing regional business hub include:

  • The co-location of Unilever's key regional decision makers, from Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance and Customer Development in Singapore.
  • A total of 800 Unilever employees working out of Unilever's Singapore office.
  • Over 100 additional jobs amongst Unilever's advertising agencies and business partners.

Paul Polman sees the growth of its business hub for Unilever's Asia, Africa, Central and Eastern European region in Singapore "as a crucial step in aligning the region with the One Unilever programme, which is aimed at streamlining and simplifying the Company's global organisational structure".

He also considers this decision as being reflective of the Company's long term commitment to the city state and went on to say that “Singapore's superb business infrastructure, excellent human capital, connectivity and strong base of supporting industries combined with the support provided by the Singapore Government make it an ideal place for a regional business hub".
