PRESS STATEMENT

1. The University of New South Wales (UNSW) Australia and the various agencies of the Government of Singapore have signed a settlement agreement in respect of all outstanding loans and grants payable to the Singapore Government.
   
   
2. This follows the decision by UNSW to cease the operation of its Asia campus, UNSW Asia, in Singapore with effect from 28 June 2007.
   
   
3. UNSW and EDB will continue to pursue other areas of cooperation, such as research collaborations in areas like water and clean energy, and other joint programmes with Singapore institutions.
