On 23rd April 2009, Meiji Seika Singapore marked its 35th anniversary with the official opening of its new office building. Key executives from Meiji Seika’s head office in Japan and His Excellency Makoto Yamanaka, Ambassador of Japan to Singapore, graced this momentous occasion.
Since Meiji Seika Singapore was founded in 1974, it has grown from strength to strength and doubled its headcount to 300 over the past 6 years. Currently, Singapore serves as a manufacturing base for both finished and intermediate products, as well as a global distribution hub for these products to reach over 40 countries including Japan, USA, Philippines and Middle Eastern countries. Research & Development of new flavours to suit local and regional tastes is also undertaken at the site.
As one of the early pioneers of Singapore’s food industry, Meiji Seika’s longstanding history symbolises the company’s commitment and confidence in Singapore. During the ceremony, Managing Director of Meiji Seika Singapore, Mr Hayato Koyanagi expressed his wish to develop the current business to the next level and establish the Singapore arm as a regional centre for Meiji Seika.
