Director General of WWF International to learn firsthand about Singapore's approach towards sustainability

Mr James P. Leape, DG of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), is invited here under the Singapore International Foundation's 21st Distinguished Visitor Program. On Octover 14, Mr Leap will call on Senior Minister S Jayakumar and Minister for Environment and Water Resources, Dr Yacob Ibrahim. He will also meet Mr Leo Yip, Chairman of the Singapore Ecnomic Development Board.


In a roundtable organised by the Institute of Policy Studies at the LKY School of Public Policy, Mr Leap will meet corporations to share on how the global business community is involved in the lead-up to the Global Deal negotiations.


He will also give a public lecture, "Good COP, Bad COP - the Compelling Case for a Good Global Climate Deal" on 14 October. On subsequent days, Mr Leap will have interactive sessions with students and staff from schools in the West Zone Centre of Excellence for Environmental Education, as well as visit Pulau Semakau and Sugei Buloh Wetland Reserve, to learn about Singapore's conservatio n efforts within an urban landscape.
