On 12 October 2011 ifm electronic gmbh opened its first production and development centre in Singapore. Since the foundation of the company in 1969 ifm electronic has continuously optimised technical processes in almost all industries. ifm electronic gmbh is one of the world's leading manufacturers in the automation industry.

"We are very pleased that ifm electronic has chosen Singapore for its first integrated manufacturing plant in Asia," said Mr Yeoh Keat Chuan, Assistant Managing Director of the Singapore Economic Development Board. "The availability of engineering talent, ease of doing business and proximity to growth markets in Asia make Singapore a strategic base for companies such as ifm electronic to grow their top line and create new value for customers."

ifm started to operate in the Asian economic region as early as 1976 and supplied the market through eight branch offices and 21 sales offices with products developed and manufactured in Germany. ifm has been present in Singapore since 2001 with a sales and service site. "With the new location in Singapore we will continue to significantly extent our market position in the rapidly growing Asian market," concludes Kent Karlsson, project leader for the development of the new production and development centre.
