Intelligent Energy Systems Pilot Project Announcement (at the Singapore International Energy Week)
The Intelligent Energy System (IES) pilot project aims to explore technologies that can potentially enhance the capabilities of our national power grid. A multi-agency Taskforce co-chaired by EMA and the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) will drive the project, and will also assess how the new technologies surfaced under the IES pilot project could be applied nationwide in Singapore.
The IES pilot project will be an instrumental platform to attract companies to develop innovative solutions in Singapore, using Singapore’s urbanised environment as a “living lab” to testbed and demonstrate their technologies for eventual export to global markets. As such, this project will be the first step to building an ecosystem of companies to support the development of intelligent energy systems, and will create economic value for Singapore.
The IES pilot project will start with a pre-qualification phase, the first of a two-stage process to select the best consortium leader(s) and partners for the pilot project. Local and overseas companies are invited to form consortiums of partners to propose potential R&D opportunities or solutions under the IES pilot project.
