Makino has chosen Singapore for its first International Research and Development (IRD) Centre outside of Japan.  The S75 million centre will spearhead machine tool research in innovative technology servicing various sectors such as medical, bio-science, alternate energy and power generation, agricultural and in areas of nanotechnology using exotic and composite materials. This is in view of the expected rise in demand for customised-design and specialised machine tools.

Through the introductions and assistance of SPRING Singapore and the connections of the vibrant Germany-Singapore Business Forum,  the linkage with Design Tech was established.  The new IRD Centre would mark a significant paradigm shift in Makino Asia’s products and customer-support.  Design Tech is well-renowned for its industrial designing capabilities.  With this close, long-term intensive collaboration in the field of design, Makino Asia and its customers can look forward to a new era of aesthetic yet functional and creative industrial designs, on the next-generation machines.
