Solar Energy Research Institute of Singapore (SERIS) today held an inauguration ceremony to commemorate their successful move into their 100-man R&D centre within NUS, introduce SERIS’ new facilities to the public and signify the institute’s readiness to kickstart industry collaborations with international technology partners.
SERIS was established in April 2008, with a focus on use-inspired solar technology research, and is now a key knowledge node in Singapore’s development of the Clean Energy sector. Headed by Professor Joachim Luther, former Director of the renowned Fraunhofer Institute of Solar Energy Systems (ISE) in Germany, SERIS is working closely with various research and industry partners such as REC to develop new processes and technologies in the areas of (i) wafer and thin-film silicon photovoltaic devices; (ii) novel photovoltaic devices and (iii) innovative materials for solar and energy-efficient buildings.
