Rolls-Royce Increases Investment in Singapore with New High-Value Manufacturing Plant
July 29, 2009
Rolls-Royce will be establishing a wide chord fan blade (WCFB) factory in Singapore. This facility will be located in Rolls-Royce’s Seletar campus alongside the previously announced “Facility of the Future”, which will test and assemble Trent aero engines. The new factory will be the first outside the UK to manufacture hollow titanium WCFBs. Total investment in the Rolls-Royce Seletar campus will exceed S$700 million, creating approximately 500 new jobs when fully operational, most of which are skilled positions.
Rolls-Royce's campus is a strong vote of confidence in Singapore’s capabilities to be a home for high-value manufacturing and development activities. The campus underlines the attractiveness of Seletar Aerospace Park as a cradle for new opportunities in the aerospace sector, where synergies arise from the clustering and integration of activities across the supply chain. Rolls-Royce’s latest investments also reflect how companies can leverage on Singapore’s position as a leading global aerospace hub to drive business growth, especially in Asia.
