SOLID ASIA Unveils World's Largest Solar Cooling System at UWCSEA in Singapore

SOLID ASIA, one of the world's leading solar thermal specialists, today unveiled the world's largest solar cooling system in Singapore, at the United World College of South East Asia (UWCSEA) East Campus. The UWCSEA East campus is equipped with state-of-the art facilities and has been awarded the BCA Green Mark Platinum certification.

SOLID ASIA has collaborated with UWCSEA to deliver, install and operate a solar water heating and space cooling installation. The system covers an area of 3,900m² and will generate an estimated 1,750 megawatt hours a year, providing energy for 100% of the schools' hot water demand as well as a considerable part of the air-conditioning. UWCSEA is also the first and only school with such a system today.

"One third of the world's energy needs comes from buildings, whether residential, commercial or public. Here in Singapore, much of our energy demand in buildings relates to cooling, due to our tropical climate. We welcome this project at UWCSEA campus not only for its physical scale, but for demonstrating that innovative solutions can be found. It is fitting that we should see such a tangible demonstration of innovation in a place of learning." Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources.
