Two from Singapore to be trained in Spink London as Philately and Currency Specialists

Under the Strategic Attachment and Training (STRAT) Programme between EDB and Spink (Asia), 2 trainees from Singapore will be leaving for London to be mentored  by Spink specialists in the areas of Philately and Curreny/ Paper Money. The programme is an initiative by the Singapore Economic Development Board, to train skilled professionals through overseas attachment with leading companies.


Chen Jianhao, 26, an ex banker, and Wan Meng Hao, 39, previously with the Preservation of Monuments Board, were selected among 100 applicants as they truly understand and appreciate the art of collecting. In short, their passion came through very clearly, Mr Gary Tan, Manager of Spink (Asia) shared.


During the course of training, the pair will receive a stipend and an allowance to cover the costs of living in London. Both will return to contribute to the sector after 24 motnhs of training.


Said Ms Thien Kwee Eng, Director of Lifestyle, New Businesses Group, “The initiatives undertaken by the EDB will help build Singapore into a hub for the arts and collectible business. This will add a new dimension to our economy and be another engine to drive future growth. New and diverse job opportunities in the arts and collectibles sector will also be created to meet the aspirations of Singaporeans and this training programme with Spink is in line with this objective”
