Ladies and Gentlemen
- I am delighted to join you this morning for the International Headquarters Award ceremony for Miltenyi Biotec Asia Pacific.
Miltenyi Biotec
- Miltenyi Biotec, one of the largest biotechnology companies in Germany, is the world leader in magnetic cell separation technology.
- As such, we are very pleased that Miltenyi Biotec has decided to set up its regional headquarters in Singapore. We understand that this HQ will oversee Miltenyi's operations in Shanghai, Japan and Australia. Miltenyi joins many of the world's top companies in sitting key decision making and management activities in Singapore. It reaffirms our attractiveness as the leading location in Asia for HQ operations.
- Miltenyi's decision to be based in Singapore also adds to the momentum of our biomedical sciences effort. To date, over 30 biotechnology companies have established operations here, investing in a wide spectrum of activities, ranging from R&D to manufacturing to regional operations.
- In their regional operations, these companies are expanding the scope of the RHQs beyond the management of business functions such as sales and marketing to include other activities such as clinical trials coordination, supply chain management, and even oversight of regional manufacturing operations.
- Global connectivity, world-class infrastructure, pro-business policies and a highly-skilled workforce are some of the reasons why Singapore is the preferred site for regional operations. This, coupled with our growing base of biomedical sciences activities, puts us in a good position to attract more RHQs in the future, especially as Asia becomes an increasingly significant market for biomedical products and healthcare services.
- In closing, I would like to congratulate the staff of Miltenyi on the setting up of your company's regional headquarters in Singapore. I wish you every success as you grow Miltenyi in Singapore and Asia. It is my pleasure to present Miltenyi Biotec with the International Headquarters Award.
