iPark Singapore a boost for Korean IT firms

01 Dec 2002

Singapore currently has 51 incubator centres, of which 10 are foreign-based. These centres and their enterprises stimulate activities ranging from marketing and technology exchange to networking, business partnerships and collaborations.

The opening of iPark reflects Singapore's viability as a regional hub for IT businesses..

A new Singapore office set up by Korea IT Industry Promotion Agency (KIPA) will help to connect Korean IT businesses with their counterparts in Singapore and the region to help foster business collaborations. iPark Singapore, KIPA's first office in South East Asia, will serve as a technology promotion base and business centre to accelerate the growth of Korean IT companies. It will help Korean companies to advertise their products and provide business support and infrastructure. As a start, KIPA organised inaugural meetings between 10 Korean IT companies and 32 South East Asian IT companies in October.

Dr Dan-Hyung Lee, President and CEO of KIPA, said: "We chose Singapore as our hub for the region because of its strong network of multinational companies and strong logistics, services and high technology sectors."
