ABB, a global leader in power and automation technologies, has launched a $15 million Industrial IT Center in Singapore to serve its growing customer base in Asia.
"The centre is positioned to deliver quality and innovative industrial IT solutions in a more efficient, faster and competitive way, helping our customers in their endeavours to create more shareholder value," said Mr Sim Boon Kiat, Group Representative for ABB in Singapore.

"In a year's time, ABB in Singapore will be our designated centre of excellence for this business on a global basis," he added.
Initially, the R&D team at the centre will develop a software solution that detects water leakage by providing real time information of distribution networks. This will help utility customers to reduce significant non-revenue water loss, which is reported at about 40 per cent in Asia.
ABB's investment includes adding 10,000 sq m for an interactive training facility, a customer centre, a dedicated staging area and additional office space. Mr Teo Ming Kian, Chairman EDB, said he was confident that through the R&D centre, ABB would achieve innovative breakthroughs that would sharpen its competitive edge. He hoped the success of the centre would spur ABB to broaden its R&D work into other technologies, from wireless to alternative energy and process plant optimisation.
ABB Singapore, which was conferred regional business headquarters status by EDB in 2000, employs more than 1,000 people in Singapore and had an annual sales turnover of $470 million. |
