The Venture Capital Industry |
|
| |
Singapore is a major financial centre and there is a considerable pool of venture capital that startups can tap. At the middle of 2003, some 150 fund management companies in Singapore were managing about S$16 billion worth of venture capital funds. These funds are invested globally across all industry sectors at all levels of financing.
An online directory of venture capital firms is available at the DEALS website. DEALS also offers a service to match companies seeking venture funding to Singapore's venture capital community. You can register and upload your business plan at the DEALS portal and it will automatically match and direct your plan to the appropriate VCs based in Singapore.
The Singapore Venture Capital Association was formed in 1992 to promote the growth and development of the venture capital industry. Information about the industry, the association's members and how they can help startups is available in a publication that can be ordered at their website.
Business Angels Network South East Asia aims to develop the angel investing industry in Asia and also help match startups with angel investors.
