matthew_sweet

Matthew Sweet wears many professional hats and they range from being a broadcaster to Victorian historian to columnist, and film critic among others. However, his academic interest is in historical city planning, especially in the areas of design and transportation, which he believes have relevant and implicating effects in today's world. Using his extensive research and knowledge, Matthew has written about urban issues and how the future of urban planning can leverage on lessons of the past to improve the planning process.

Matthew holds a doctorate from Oxford University and has contributed to the Oxford Companion to English Literature on several occasions. On top of that,
he is a presenter, producer and host for some of BBC's TV programmes, and is
an author of a book which was later adapted as a film for BBC Four. With his expertise, Matthew brings a wealth of experience and an authoritative academic perspective to the Singapore Sessions, which will help broaden the debate and throw up new insights.
