Ambiq expands Singapore R&D to advance ultra-low power edge AI innovation

This press release was issued by Ambiq.

Ambiq, a global leader in ultra-low-power semiconductor solutions, today announced a multi-year research and development (R&D) programme in Singapore, supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), to advance next-generation edge artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and further the development of Ambiq’s subthreshold power optimized technology (SPOT®) for licensing.

Next-generation edge AI enables intelligence to be processed directly on devices—such as wearables, smart infrastructure, and industrial systems—without constant reliance on cloud connectivity. By combining AI performance with ultra-low power consumption, these technologies enable always-on, responsive, and energy-efficient applications. Through the licensing of Ambiq’s SPOT platform, these energy-efficient capabilities can be adopted more broadly across diverse products and market segments, accelerating the deployment of edge AI across a wider range of devices and use cases.

“Singapore is a crucial hub for Ambiq’s advanced R&D and engineering efforts. Singapore’s strong talent base, robust research ecosystem, and close collaboration across industry and academia make it an ideal location for advancing our most complex edge AI technologies. This expansion builds on our long-term presence in Singapore and supports Ambiq’s goal of further developing and licensing our SPOT platform.”
