This press release was jointly issued by Global Innovation Labs (GIL) and SRI.
Global Innovation Labs (GIL), the external venture fund and global commercialisation initiative of Silicon Valley-based research institute SRI International — known for breakthrough innovations behind Siri, Intuitive Surgical, the Internet's precursor ARPANET, and the computer mouse — today announced the establishment of an investment and venture building hub in Singapore. The hub joins an expanding worldwide network alongside GIL hubs in the United States, South Korea, and Japan, bringing its model of science-driven company building to one of Asia's most dynamic innovation ecosystems.
GIL Singapore will anchor regional efforts to build and scale global deep tech ventures across next-generation hardware, sustainability, healthcare, robotics, quantum, and artificial intelligence. Supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), the hub will tap Singapore's world-class R&D base and leading academic and research institutions to cultivate deep tech founders and accelerate intellectual property (IP) commercialisation.
GIL is also exploring opportunities to collaborate with the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore's lead public sector R&D agency, to identify synergies in IP portfolios and engage in venture-building across Singapore's vibrant research ecosystem.
GIL's strategic partnership with SRI includes close collaboration with SRI's venture group and commercialisation teams to identify, license, and scale deep technologies into high-growth companies. GIL operates and oversees a global network of commercialisation and investment hubs, leveraging SRI's proprietary IP — built over 80 years of foundational research — for venture creation.
