Waymo will be Singapore’s newest autonomous vehicle operator, joining ComfortDelGro and Grab. This deployment supports Singapore’s approach to expand the range of autonomous mobility services and provide commuters with more transport options.
Waymo's entry is part of Singapore’s longer-term plans to attract world-class autonomous vehicle players and foster a competitive autonomous vehicle industry. Waymo’s autonomous vehicles are expected to arrive in Singapore in the next few months, and will conduct mapping and validation driving in 2027. Waymo aims to launch commercial ride-hailing services in 2028.
LTA will work closely with Waymo to ensure that all deployments meet safety and regulatory requirements and build public trust in autonomous vehicles.
The Government is committed to helping drivers prepare for the autonomous vehicle transition early, and will not allow autonomous vehicle deployment to run ahead of our ability to retrain and support affected drivers. Building on the manpower transition package announced in July 2026, the Government will continue to work closely with tripartite partners and operators to provide more support for drivers. This includes supporting drivers to acquire new skills, and assisting willing drivers to pivot into new roles created by the growing autonomous vehicle sector.
