The Place for Business

How does one small city play host to such a vast business ecosystem? Thanks to our compact geography, Singapore’s various economic activities are organised into various designated industrial parks and economic zones. From Tuas to Changi, industrial clusters across the island yield economies of scale and enhance network effects for businesses.

One-North Biopolis

Occupying 18.5 hectares strategically located near the National University Hospital, Biopolis hosts the full spectrum of R&D activities pertaining to the life sciences. With access to services ranging from microarray to DNA sequencing, Biopolis is home to public research institutes such as A*Star, Singapore’s lead agency for scientific research, as well as private companies such as Illumina, Takeda and Procter & Gamble.

Seletar Aerospace Park

The Seletar Aerospace Park provides an integrated infrastructure dedicated to aerospace activities including the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of aircraft and components; manufacturing and assembly; as well as training and research & development. Rolls Royce, Bell Helicopter, Cessna Aircraft, and Hawker Pacific are some of the companies that maintain facilities here.

Jurong Island

In 2009, the reclamation and amalgamation of seven small islands was completed to form Jurong Island, an integrated chemicals hub. Now, the island hosts 100 energy and chemical companies, with assets totalling over S$47 billion. Also located on the island are the Jurong Rock Caverns, Southeast Asia’s first commercial underground storage facility for liquid hydrocarbons.

Wafer Fab & Advanced Display Parks

There are four specialised wafer fabrication parks located in Singapore – Woodlands, Tampines, Pasir Ris, and North Coast. Collectively, the parks house some of the world’s top wafer foundries, such as Micron, GlobalFoundries, UMC, NXP Semiconductors. Our dedicated electronics manufacturing clusters also includes the Advanced Display Park in Tampines.
