Increasing foreign direct investments

In 2022, ASEAN FDI flows increased to $224 billion, marking an all-time peak. The region’s share of global FDI inflows rose further, from less than 15 per cent to more than 17 per cent. Manufacturing remained a significant recipient with investment climbing to an all-time high of $62 billion.

Increased interest in robotics driven by aging demographics in developed economies and advancements in artificial intelligence. Singapore is the second most automated country by robot density (818 units per 10,000 employees) above the global average of 151 units per 10,000 employees.

National Robotics Programme

The most recent tranche of S$60 million announced in 2024 will add to more than S$450 million in funding committed to the National Robotics Programme since 2016. This is complemented by national initiatives that pioneer robotics adoption across diverse industries including manufacturing, healthcare, facilities management, logistics, aviation and maritime.

Singapore’s globally leading Institutes of Higher Learning administer various programmes which produce over 800 graduates in robotics disciplines.
