FAQ

Our Summer Internship Programme is currently designed for penultimate-year undergraduates. If you are not in your penultimate year, we encourage you to visit our instagram page (@edbCareers) to learn more about our work and explore other opportunities with us in the future.

Yes! We welcome applications from students across all disciplines, including STEM, Humanities, Social Sciences, and beyond. You do not need a degree in Economics or Business to apply.

What matters most is a genuine curiosity about global business, industries, and the broader economic environment that Singapore operates in.

We look for students who are curious about how things work, think critically about problems, and take the initiative to learn. You should be adaptable, resourceful, able to work well with others, and genuinely interested in contributing to meaningful projects that make a difference for Singapore.

Our internship projects span across EDB’s key divisions, including Industry Groups, Planning & Policy, and Strategy. Each offers a unique opportunity to understand how we partner with businesses and shape Singapore’s economic growth.

You can also explore EDB’s diverse industry focus areas – from Digital Technology, Pharmaceuticals & Biotechnology, Sustainability and more – to see the sectors you could be contributing to.

Applicants may indicate interest in one or multiple domains (Industry Group and/or Policy, Planning & Partnership) during the application process.

Successful candidates will be assigned a project in a division within your chosen domain, based on their suitability and organisational needs. This ensures exposure to priority work areas and builds the adaptability essential for a career in the public service.

You may reference our 2025 Project Samples to understand the scope of work within each domain.

Interns are involved in research and analytical projects that support EDB’s ongoing work with industries and companies. You will contribute to real initiatives, apply what you have learnt, and develop practical insights that help the team make informed decisions.

You will sharpen your critical thinking and research skills while learning how to approach real-world business challenges. Summer Interns end their programme by presenting their findings and recommendations to their teams, developing both their analytical and communication abilities.

Start by learning more about what EDB does and the industries we work with. We also encourage you to reflect on how your interests align with EDB’s mission and demonstrate curiosity about global business trends and Singapore’s economic landscape.
