These initiatives with SMU align with the expansion of Red Hat’s Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore, which will serve as the company’s premier hub for engineering and open source innovation in region. The grand opening ceremony of the regional headquarters was officiated by guest of honor Jacqueline Poh, managing director of the Singapore Economic Development Board.
The newly expanded regional headquarters at CapitaSpring in Singapore is a testament to Red Hat’s commitment and investment to enabling customer success with open hybrid cloud solutions in the Asia-Pacific region. Spanning three floors, the new office space is designed with considerations for the future of work, focusing on open collaboration space that aligns with Red Hat’s open culture ideology. The grand opening follows Red Hat’s recent recognition among the top ten Singapore Best Workplaces for medium-sized companies and Singapore Best Workplaces in Tech for 2022 by Great Place to Work.
The new office is designed to foster a community-focused environment for associates, including state-of-the-art technology and collaboration tools to help associates more easily connect with colleagues and customers around the world from almost any room. In addition, open spaces called "neighborhoods" offer collaborative areas for teams to gather more comfortably. In keeping with Red Hat’s global commitment to sustainable business practices, the new Singapore office also incorporates environmentally conscious operations and green initiatives.
Nurturing local talent with Singapore Management University (SMU)
Red Hat is collaborating with SMU to train local technical talent by offering scholarships and annual course-based monetary study awards to undergraduate students in the School of Computing and Information Systems, supporting the next generation of technologists. As part of the scholarship program, recipients may also be offered an internship opportunity at Red Hat Singapore to gain first-hand knowledge and industry experience.
Mental health awareness report with Lien Centre of Social Innovation (LCSI)
As part of the company’s social responsibility charter in the region, Red Hat is commissioning a mental health awareness report with Lien Centre of Social Innovation (LCSI) of SMU. LCSI will conduct an impact study on mental wellness for vulnerable children and youth in Singapore. Through this program, Red Hat associates will have opportunities to volunteer at partner organizations to build greater awareness for issues surrounding mental health in the industry.
