Safran unveils new facility in Singapore for the production and maintenance of aerospace electrical systems

This press release was issued by Safran.

Safran Electrical & Power unveiled today its new production and maintenance facility dedicated to aerospace electrical systems, located in the heart of the Seletar Aerospace Park in Singapore. The ceremony was held with the Economic Development Board (EDB), JTC Corporation and the French Embassy in Singapore.

This new plant, which employs 70 people, specializes in the manufacturing and maintenance of power conversion and distribution equipment, batteries for customers such as Airbus, Boeing, ATR, as well as major airline companies such as Singapore Airlines, Air China and Japan Airlines.

The facility has fully started its production and maintenance activities, after receiving the approvals of the major international aeronautical authorities: Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The new site strengthens Safran Electrical & Power's position as a reference player in the regional aerospace electrical sector.

“I am very pleased to inaugurate this new industrial facility, which embodies our commitment to competitiveness, innovation and excellence. We chose Singapore because it is an essential hub both economically and industrially, and its attractiveness is reinforced by the government’s constant and proactive support. This site allows us to be as close as possible to our local customers, providing them with cutting-edge electrical solutions and services.”

Safran Electrical & Power

As part of its growth strategy, Safran Electrical & Power transferred to this new facility all the electrical activities previously carried out by Thales in Singapore, following their acquisition in October 2023.

Safran has been active in Singapore for more than 45 years in the aerospace and defense markets. With its 900 employees spread over five production or maintenance facilities, Safran is a major player in the local industry, particularly in services for landing gear, evacuation slides, on-board electronic systems and helicopter engines.

“This new facility means a lot for the bilateral cooperation as it reflects perfectly the strength of the partnership between Singapore and France in civil aviation. Following the enhanced cooperation framework signed in May 2025 between the CAAS and the DGAC during President Emmanuel Macron’s State Visit to Singapore, it illustrates the excellent collaboration between French industry and Singaporean partners but also the continued contribution of French expertise to Singapore’s cutting- edge aerospace ecosystem.”

Adeline-Lise Khov

Head of the regional economic service for ASEAN countries at the French Embassy in Singapore

“Congratulations to Safran Electrical & Power on the opening of this new facility. This investment is a strong testament of Safran’s confidence in Singapore as it expands its activities in Singapore to capture the strong growth in aerospace in Asia Pacific. By harnessing Singapore’s vibrant ecosystem and strong regional connectivity, the facility reinforces our vision of being a comprehensive aerospace hub for maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) and advanced manufacturing, and allows us to capture emerging opportunities in aircraft electrification.”
