The inauguration ceremony was officiated by (from right to left) Mr Benoit Roulon, Managing Director, Total Trading Asia; Mr Christian Cabrol, President & CEO, Total Oil Asia Pacific / Country Chair Singapore; His Excellency, Mr Marc Abensour, Ambassador of France to Singapore; Guest-of-Honour Mr Teo Chee Hean, Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security, Singapore and International Advisory Committee of Total; Miss Namita Shah, President, People & Social Responsibility, and a Member of Executive Committee of Total; Mr Javier Rielo, Senior Vice President, Total Exploration & Production Asia Pacific; Mr Nicolas Poulteney, General Manager, Total Gas & Power Asia.

On 9 December 2019, French energy giant Total officially opened its regional headquarters at Fraser Tower. The Cecil Street office, which spans about 125,000 square feet and houses around 500 employees, will bring Total’s non-manufacturing business units under one roof for greater operational efficiency. Total will leverage the Singapore office as a base to manage its LNG business in the Asia-Pacific and its renewable energy business in Asia.

Speaking at the official opening, Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Mr Teo Chee Hean said that Total’s new headquarters testifies to its longstanding partnership with Singapore since 1982, and hopes that Total’s significant presence in Singapore will “open more doors to explore avenues for growth in business, innovation and research and development to build an innovative and sustainable energy sector.” He also noted that Singapore supports energy companies that are moving into renewables by streamlining regulations and promoting innovation and research and development.

Total’s renewable energy business echoes Singapore’s ambitious target to deploy two Gigawatt peak of solar energy by 2030. The company’s lubricants blending plant in Tuas is its largest and most modern, and has been equipped to meet 35 per cent of its energy needs through solar power and avoid up to 528,000kg of carbon dioxide emissions a year. Total Solar Team, housed in the new office, delivers fully integrated solar solutions for commercial and industrial customers in Southeast Asia and Singapore.
