1. Asia Tech x Singapore Summit: Fostering connections and collaborations in Singapore’s growing AI ecosystem

Tech conferences here continue to be a great platform for players in Singapore’s growing AI ecosystem to connect and seek new collaborations. EDB and Digital Industry Singapore (DISG) held two events on the sidelines of the AsiaTech x Singapore (Atx) summit in May, these events facilitated:

Thought and business leaders from AI-native firms, prominent global corporations, and key infrastructure providers like Oracle, Seaco, YCH Group, DBS, McKinsey, and Cohere participated in collaborative discussions aimed at driving synergies to speed up AI adoption across diverse sectors.

DISG also hosted a closed-door AI Startups and VC networking event, providing a crucial platform for 24 high-growth and early-stage startups. This exclusive opportunity allowed innovative AI ventures to pitch directly to 12 prospective venture capitalists and investors, facilitating vital funding and partnership opportunities within Singapore's vibrant startup landscape.

2. 800 New training opportunities for AI practitioners in next 3 years; 500 new GenAI projects to be launched in next 12 months

Singapore is doubling down on AI, a cornerstone of its digital economy strategy. Around 800 new AI training opportunities will be introduced over the next three years, catering to both aspiring AI professionals and seasoned practitioners through programmes like the enhanced AI Apprenticeship Programme (AIAP) Industry under AI Singapore (AISG) and collaborations with leading tech companies. 

These efforts aim to expand Singapore's existing pool of over 6,000 AI professionals and address the industry's demand for skilled talent. Concurrently, up to 500 new generative AI (GenAI) projects will also be rolled out over the next 12 months, benefiting 1,000 enterprises through the expanded GenAI x Digital Leaders initiative, providing crucial funding and guidance for AI adoption. 

Additionally, tech giants like Alibaba Cloud, ST Engineering and Prudential Singapore have pledged their support to local enterprises in their AI adoption journeys. Find out how >>  


3. Singapore unveils GenAI starter kit for enterprises

Spearheaded by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and the AI Verify Foundation, the Global AI Assurance Pilot enabled the rigorous testing of GenAI applications in real-world scenarios across 17 organisations in 10 diverse sectors, including healthcare and finance.

Organisations like Singapore’s Changi General Hospital utilised the pilot programme, which was launched in early 2025 to validate the accuracy of GenAI in summarising medical reports. Another company, Tookitaki, a regulatory technology firm also used the pilot to enhance the trustworthiness of its AI models for fraud detection.

The initiative’s findings culminated in the development of a testing starter kit for GenAI applications. It also serves to support the notion that human expertise continues to play an indispensable role in AI testing. Learn more about this starter kit here >>  


4. From R&D to Regional Impact: How Singapore Supports AMD in semiconductor innovation

For over four decades, Singapore has served as more than just the regional headquarters for global semiconductor company AMD. It is a strategic launchpad for growth and collaboration across Asia Pacific, significantly bolstered by Singapore’s vibrant talent pool and supportive innovation environment.

In an interview with EDB, Peter noted that the Asia-Pacific region is emerging as a major AIi nnovation hub, projected to reach a market value of US$78 billion (S$100b) by 2027.Industries like healthcare, industrial automation, security, and research are leading AIdeployments in the region, too.

5. Why PwC, Tomoro AI, and Thales are investing in AI in Singapore

Tomoro AI, an AI consulting and engineering firm, has launched its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore, in alliance with OpenAI. Tomoro plans to recruit over 30 AI professionals and collaborate on local research and upskilling programs. Discover more >>

PwC has also committed over US$4 million (S$5.13m) over the next three years to establish a new AI Hub in Singapore. This initiative aims to set standards for AI integration and develop local AI capabilities, including an AI factory for scaling solutions across key industries like financial services and logistics. Since its inception in January 2025, the AI Hub team has grown from a team of three to 15 employees today. Learn more >>

French multinational aerospace and defence corporation, Thales, has launched its AI accelerator, cortAIx SG, in Singapore. Supported by the EDB, the accelerator seeks to advance ethical and effective AI adoption. Thales is also strengthening partnerships with local organisations like the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA), and Home Team Science and Technology Agency (HTX). With these partnerships, cortAIx SG will become an integral part of the Group’s global cortAIx network of 800 highly skilled AI and data experts. Read more >>
