Asahi Glass Company

Asahi Glass Company masthead

Asahi Glass Co opened an innovation centre in Singapore in October 2016 to provide technical support for the use of fluorochemical products, and expand its capabilities to transfer advanced technologies and develop new solutions for the region.

The new centre will not only allow the Japanese glass company to deliver better service to its customers in the Asia-Pacific region, but also expand its capabilities to transfer advanced technologies, engage local stakeholders and develop new products that meet the region’s demand and requirements.

The company sees Singapore as a good entry point to the fast-growing ASEAN market, which has been identified as the new growth engine. The innovation centre will strengthen Singapore’s position as a leader in smart cities, infrastructure and green buildings.

Materials supplier Asahi Glass Co has clients in the region across four business units – glass, chemicals, electronics and ceramics. Political stability, good infrastructure, level of government support and a ready pool of human resources are commonly cited reasons why companies continue to choose Singapore as an entry point into ASEAN. The 10-member group is expected to become the world’s fourth-largest single market by 2030.

Asahi Glass Co is the largest glass company in the world and one of the core Mitsubishi companies. The company is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange and in 2013 was named one of Thomson Reuters Top 100 Global Innovators.
