The Asia Pacific (APAC) region is projected to account for 60% of the world’s GDP growth in 2024. Its leading role in the global economy offers businesses ample opportunities to innovate and expand in the region.

Based on survey results from over 400 senior leaders, this report by BCG X delves into the challenges, strategic priorities and readiness gaps faced by businesses in accelerating their business-building efforts in APAC. Key findings include:

  • 80% of executives view business building as a crucial strategic initiative, undertaking an average of five new high growth ventures each year since 2021.
  • APAC businesses lead with 32% of their annual revenue invested in business building, surpassing the global average by a substantial 20%.
  • There is a strong trend toward mergers and acquisitions, with 65% of leaders increasing their focus on M&A compared to the previous year.
  • 40% of leaders recognise a gap in their organisations’ preparedness to effectively pursue new, high-growth opportunities.
